A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a qualification that recognises the competence of a person in a work situation. Unlike traditional qualifications that rely on teaching and examinations, NVQs use performance on the job as a basis for assessment. Who should attend?
This programme is aimed at those who wish to achieve a formal qualification in spectator safety management and is suited for those who are employed as, or aspire to be, Safety Officers, their deputies and others with a senior role in safety management at spectator events.
Course Aims
The programme will provide participants with opportunity to develop and provide evidence in support of a Level 4 Qualification in Spectator Safety Management.
Objectives
By the end of the programme you will be able to provide evidence of your competence in:
- Developing and implementing policies relevant to your venue(s) and event(s)
- Providing information in support of, and in respect of your own, decision making
- Developing working relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders
- Providing learning opportunities for colleagues
- Managing your own resources and your own personal development
- Planning for, and ensuring the safety of spectators and others, at your venue(s) and event(s)
Progression
There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification, however you must be in a role that will allow our Assessors to collect evidence that you meet the competency standard set out. We will discuss this with you on application.

The first step in completing this qualification is usually to complete the five day Spectator Safety Management residential course. Mentoring
You will be given an Assessor who will work with you for the duration of the qualification. They will also assess your performance as the Safety Officer at two live events.
Certification
On completion of the NVQ requirements, you will be awarded a City & Guilds Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management.
Qualification Structure
The full NVQ qualification will consist of 9 units. You must complete 7 mandatory and 2 optional units, althoughyou can coomplete additonal units for a small fee. On completion, a separate certificate will detail all individual units completed as part of the overall programme.

A Flexible Approach
Prior Learning and relevant experience may count towards the qualification, which could reduce the amount of learning or assessment needed to qualify.
Qualification Options

Duration
The qualification must be completed within 18 months of your application being accepted.
